Surely evolution and science have disproved the creation story in the Bible as mere myth?
[ Previous ] [ Contents ] [ Next ]This view is so widely held today that anybody who tries to challenge it is
ridiculed and thought stupid and unscientific. These people certainly think so:
- In 1996 geneticist H.J. Muller circulated a document signed by
177 American biologists who asserted that the organic evolution of all things, man
included, from primitive life forms and even ultimately from non-living materials, is a
fact of science as well established as the fact that the earth is round.
- Rene Dubos, Americas top ecologist stated: Most
enlightened persons now accept as a fact that everything in the cosmos from
heavenly bodies to human beings has developed and continued to develop through
evolutionary processes.
- Oxford Zoologist Richard Dawkins is the most outspoken person
against the Christian view of creation. He informs us graciously: It is absolutely
safe to say that, if you meet a person who claims not to believe in evolution, that person
is ignorant, stupid or insane (or wicked, but Id rather not consider that) I
should add that one of Dawkins bugbears about Christians is their intolerance
of others!!!
Now the arguments surrounding the whole issue of evolution
over and against the creation model are very complex in parts. I recommend the following
website which aims to answer questions raised by evolutionists:
www.AnswersInGenesis.org
There are two main forms of evolution; Macro and
Micro.
Microevolution Microevolution teaches us that organisms of the same
species adapt to differing natural environments. This is not contested in any circles.
Macroevolution Macroevolution takes it on a step further by saying
that all life on this planet evolved from a common primal origin and what we have now is a
result of a process of natural selection. (In effect man has about the same importance on
this planet as a flea!!)
There are massive problems with Macroevolution, which have
never and can never be answered by any scientist anywhere in the world.
- The odds of primeval slime mutating into something as simple
as a plant has been calculated at exorbitant odds (a number 1 with three million noughts
after it, to 1 to be exact!) What odds of mutating into something as complex as a human
being?
- If we are to accept that evolution takes place over millions
of years, how do we know that it is taking place right now? We must note that the idea of millions of years is no longer the upheld theory of evolution. The current theory of evolution is called Punctuated Equilibria. This states that species evolved in very short periods of time (one-generation to 1000 years) to accommodate the fossil record. This actually causes the statistics against evolution to rise considerably.
- Why is there no transitional fossil evidence in the world to
back up the claim of macroevolution? For instance, if we do come from monkeys we
should expect a few million skeletons lying around as proof. Yet we do not even have one!
Evolutionists like Christians must take their view of the
creation of the world as a matter of faith because evolution is certainly not a science.
Science is concerned with absolute knowledge of a given subject by continuous testing
which should produce consistent results in order to be established as a fact.
This is impossible with regard to evolution because nobody was around to record and
observe what took place at the beginning of the earth, therefore any conclusions are based
purely on hypothesis and guesswork.
British anthropologist Sir Arthur Keith let the cat out of
the bag when he said: Evolution is unproved and unprovable. We believe it
because the alternative is special creation, which is unthinkable.
The Bible tells us: The wrath (anger) of God
is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress
the truth by their wickedness, since what be known about God is plain to them, because
God has made it plain to them
They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and
worshipped and served created things rather than the Creator.
